Thunder Hole on Ocean Drive in Acadia National Park is one of the great sites of Maine. The wind forces the tide into the granite channel and the trapped air is forced up and out creating a thunderous sound. Hence, the name Thunder Hole. Below is two pictures. One with the tide out and the other is with the tide in.
